Dr. Ahmed Elmagarmid

Dr. Ahmed K. Elmagarmid founded the Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI) in 2010 and has served as its executive director since. Before joining Qatar Foundation, he was a chief scientist at Hewlett-Packard and a professor of Computer Science at Purdue University. Dr. Elmagarmid holds several leadership roles, including vice chair of the IT Executive Committee at Sidra Medicine, board member of MEEZA, and a founding member of the Qatar Genome Program. 
He has received numerous accolades, including the NSF Presidential Young Investigator award and fellowships from IEEE, ACM, and AAAS. He earned his B.S. from the University of Dayton and his M.S. and Ph.D. from Ohio State University.
