Dr. Asma Al-Thani Board Member

Dr. Asmaa Al-Thani is Chairperson of the Qatar Genome Committee and Vice Chairperson of QBB, specializing in precision medicine, virology, and genome mapping. Her research includes sequencing the COVID19- strain in Qatar and studying its genetic impact. She directs the Biomedical Research Center at Qatar University, overseeing the country›s only Biosafety Level 3 lab. Dr. Al- Thani is also a professor of virology at Qatar University, Adjunct Assistant Professor at WCM-Q, and Founding Dean of the College of Health Sciences.  She has published 36 papers and secured multiple research grants, holding a Ph.D. in medical virology from the University of London.
