Dr. Moza Khalifa Al-Kowari stands out as a prominent clinical scientist specializing in genomic medicine, currently holding the position of Deputy Head of the Molecular Genetics Section at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC). She oversees clinical whole exome sequencing within HMC’s molecular genetics laboratory. With more than two decades of research and diagnostic laboratory experience, her knowledge encompasses inherited rare diseases, hereditary cancers, and the integration of advanced genomic technologies.
She earned her PhD in Biological and Biomedical Sciences from Hamad Bin Khalifa University and completed the distinguished Executive Leadership Program at Qatar Leadership Center. Dr. Al-Kowari has been Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator on major national research projects, spearheading impactful studies related to hearing loss and cancer genomics at Sidra Medicine and the Qatar Biomedical Research Institute. Her dedication lies in applying genomic research to clinical practice and influencing healthcare policy.
Outside of her scientific pursuits, Dr. Al-Kowari is devoted to mentoring, education, and developing strategies to incorporate precision medicine into the nation’s healthcare framework. As a mentor in the Murshid Program for Academic and Career Mentoring at Qatar National Library, she supports and guides future scientists and healthcare leaders.
