Promoting research with impact
In 2015, we partnered with the Qatar Research, Development and Innovation (QRDI) Council to launch the Pathway Towards Precision Medicine (PPM) initiative.
Disease Genomics Database
Disease Genome Database (DGD) is an institutional level agreement that is signed between QPHI and national institutes to support the scientific community. DGD is mainly focused on generating whole genome sequencing data and other omics from disease cohorts.
Q-Chip: Qatar’s first gene chip
Q-Chip is a cost-effective, customized genotyping microarray that has been developed using QPHI extensive data obtained from whole genome sequencing of the Qatari population and data provided by national stakeholders.
Wellness and Lifestyle Genomic Reports
Wellness and lifestyle genomic reports are personalized genomic reports based on testing the individual’s genetic markers. The reports provide insights about genetic risk in developing certain traits related to general health.

A Decade of Innovation in Genomics and Precision Health
Qatar Precision Health institute (QPHI) represents over 12 years of groundbreaking achievements, building on the foundations of the Qatar Biobank (QBB) and the Qatar Genome Project (QGP).
Since the establishment of Qatar Biobank in 2012, followed by Qatar Genome in 2015, QPHI has reached significant milestones, including the recruitment of nearly 50,000 participants, the sequencing of the first Qatari genome, the formation of the Qatar Genome Research Consortium, and the development of the pioneering Q-Chip.
Other key accomplishments include providing researchers access to Qatar Biobank data and the launch of the Disease Genomics Database, further reinforcing Qatar’s leadership in precision medicine.
